Don’t vote for people to come and live like ‘Arabian Kings’ – Ablakwa to Ghanaians

Okudzeto Ablakwa’s Nine-step Approach To Raise GHS6.9bn Without E-levy

The Member of Parliament (MP) for North Tongu Constituency, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has advised Ghanaians to desist from voting for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to retain power to misuse the funds of the country.

During an interview on Joy Prime, Okudzeto Ablakwa slammed the NPP government for living expensive lifestyles at the expense of the taxpayers in the country.

According to him, the extravagant expenditures of the NPP ought to be a source of concern to most Ghanaian voters.

“Ghana has a presidential jet, which was ordered by President Kufuor. The late President Atta Mills used it and never complained. John Mahama used it as well, but Akufo-Addo was the only one who couldn’t use it because he said it was not luxurious enough. He said he couldn’t bathe in the skies.”

“I’m not making this up. This was the justification the defense minister came out to tell us in Parliament. We are spending 20 euros an hour. In a country where 19 people are dying at the Korle Bu Renal unit because of 2 million Ghana cedis for consumables for dialysis, we spent $100 million on these profligate, extravagant, and ostentatious chartered jet travels. Don’t bring people into power who will live like Arabian Kings; expensive lifestyles at the expense of the taxpayer,” he said.

The lawmaker also referred to the “popular” National Cathedral and the money spent on the design alone and other processes, describing it as dubious.

“When we go into the National Cathedral Expenditure, are you aware that after the main design, which we had paid over 32 million Ghana cedis for, they added a design for a restaurant, for which we paid 5.8 million dollars to David Ajaye just for adding a restaurant? The processes are opaque, and the cost was inflated. We don’t need this government; it is opaque, secretive, and dubious,” he said.
