Police find ‘kuntunsin’ body in Tema

CID uses scientific methods to find missing NDC Women’s Organizer
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

the search for the missing Tema West Constituency Women’s Organiser of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) intensifies, police are contemplating conducting DEOXYRIBONUCLEIC ACID (DNA) test on an unknown body of a female that was found in Tema. The body has no hands, legs and neck.

Madam Paulina Lamisi, the organiser, disappeared since Wednesday 12th of June, 2024 and her whereabouts is not known.

However, on Thursday June 13, 2024 police in Tema Community 25 found the dead body of a female in a suitcase.

Information available to The Chronicle reveals that the body was wrapped in a black polythene bag with the head, neck, both arms and legs removed.

About a fortnight ago, the police managed to contact relatives of reported missing persons for identification.

The family of the disappeared women’s organiser was fully represented and after examination of the photographs believed the body was not that of their relative, Lamisi.

A highly placed source at the Headquarters of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) told the paper that the police, in a bid to get to the bottom of the matter, may have to deploy forensic investigation of the body found in Tema.

The source points to the fact that the perpetrators of that act, much conscious of what they were doing might have removed the limbs and deposit them elsewhere either to completely conceal the identity of the body or had gone to use them for rituals. This is why the DNA at this time is paramount, the source concluded.

A family source who spoke to the paper on telephone states that they are prepared to cooperate with the police to unravel the mystery if resorting to DNA is an option. The Police are the experts so if they will go any length, we shall support them, the source said.

An executive member of the Tema West Constituency of the NDC, Mr Eric Arthur, when contacted by The Chronicle, stated that on Wednesday June 5, 2024 after a meeting, they saw the women’s organiser off on the motorway at Adjei Kojo, enroute to Lome, to undertake her business of purchasing items for sale back in Ghana.

He went on that, the following day, Thursday June 6, 2024 she did call to announce her safe arrival and that some of the items she wanted to buy were not available in the francophone capital, so she was continuing to Lagos for the same enterprise.

On Friday, June 7, 2024 Madam Lamisi again called, this time from Lagos, Nigeria, but one could hear heated argument with someone on the phone.

Mr Arthur continued that on Sunday, June 9, 2024 one Frank who happens to be their friend misseda call from an unfamiliar number and when he returned the call, he realised that it was Madam Paulina Lamisi.

The executive member stated that, according to Frank, she reportedly conveyed a message of threat from a source to him.

Mr Arthur continued that on Monday June 10, 2024, Madam Lamisi called and wished him a happy birthday and suggested that the celebration should be deferred to the Friday.

The following day, Tuesday June 11, 2024 she called another friend, one Fortune, whose birthday fell on that day, wished her happy birthday and repeated the earlier suggestion to defer the celebration.

In the afternoon of the same day, at about 14:00hours, Lamisi reportedly called the Tema Community 2 Mangoase Number Two Branch Secretary, Amina Alhassan, to hold themselves in readiness for the pending birthday celebration on the Friday.

On the Wednesday, June 12, 2024 after mid-day, when there was no sign of her appearing in a meeting she was supposed to attend, attempts were made to reach her on phone but that proved futile.
