SSNIT Hotels sale: We’ll give Ghanaians back their property – Ablakwa vows

Okudzeto Ablakwa’s Nine-step Approach To Raise GHS6.9bn Without E-levy

Ranking Member on the Foreign Affairs Committee of Parliament, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, expressed his frustration over the Akufo-Addo government’s decision to proceed with a contentious sale of Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) hotels despite widespread public condemnation.

In an interview with Accra-based Ahotor Fm monitored by MyNewsGh.com, Ablakwa bemoaned the NPP administration’s apparent disregard for public opinion, organized labour, and civil society groups that have vehemently opposed the deal.

“This is just unbelievable, those saying these hotels are not good, and these hotels are not profitable, these hotels won’t help Ghana, so you want to sell it out are saying they will buy them. If the hotel is a bad business why is the Minister of State doing all he can to buy? It doesn’t make sense,” he explained.

“The way he is publicly defending and hasn’t withdrawn his interest shows that there’s something. He knows the hotels are good and profitable. It is never true that they are making losses and all of that. If it can be good for you as an individual one man why can’t it be good for all Ghanaians?” he quizzed.

H reiterated plans of an intended public demonstration on June 18 against the controversial sale of SSNIT’s hotels to Rock City and vowed to retrieve the hotels to the state

“The demonstration will by means come on June 18 in the morning and We’ll give Ghanaians back their property,” he said.
