In a shocking turn of events early this morning, a KIA Rhino truck with registration number AS 9184-20 careened out of control and crashed into the Sefwi Juaboso Magistrate Court located in Juaboso, Western North region.

The incident, which occurred on Tuesday, May 28, 2024, has sent shockwaves through the local community.

Eyewitnesses reported that the truck, allegedly laden with mining equipment used in illegal mining activities known as galamsey, collided with the exterior of the court building, causing significant damage.

Galamsey, which has been a persistent issue in the region due to its adverse environmental effects, has garnered increased scrutiny and efforts for eradication.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the driver experienced brake failure, leading to the uncontrollable trajectory of the vehicle and subsequent collision with the courthouse.

Prompt action was taken as law enforcement authorities swiftly arrived at the scene to assess the situation and secure the area.

Police officers promptly apprehended the individuals associated with the incident.

The suspects are currently in police custody as investigations unfold to determine the full extent of their involvement and any potential accomplices.

The collision serves as a stark reminder of the dangers posed by illegal mining activities and underscores the need for continued vigilance and enforcement of laws aimed at curbing such practices.

Authorities are urging the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities related to illegal mining in their communities.

As the investigation progresses, more details are expected to emerge regarding the circumstances surrounding the crash and the individuals involved.

Stay tuned for further updates on this developing story.
