Several injured after a speeding school bus ran into a tree

Several persons are nursing various degrees of injuries after a speeding school bus ran into a tree at Nobewam on the Konongo-Kumasi Highway in the Ashanti Region.

The incident on Saturday afternoon involved the School Bus of Bethel Assembly of God Montessori School at Agona, Ashanti.

According to the police,  Emmanuel  Sarpong the driver of the Eicher School Bus with registration number  GV 80-17 from Agona towards Juaso on reaching a section of the road at the outskirts of Nobewam in the three lanes along Nobewam – Kumasi motor road, was overtaking vehicles ahead of him and in the process spotted oncoming vehicle from the opposite lane. To avoid a collision, he quickly swerved to the offside bush to save the situation but failed brake and ran into a tree causing a serious accident.

The suspect driver and some of the passengers sustained various degrees of injuries and were rushed to the Nobewam SDA Clinic for treatment.
