A group calling itself Ayensuano Youth Arise in the Ayensuano District of the Eastern Region has threatened to demonstrate over lack of social amenities if the government refuses to provide them with the necessary basic social amenities which are lacking in the community.

Speaking to the leader of the group Nkanaah Emmanuel on Plan B FM’s late afternoon show EBAANOSEN hosted by Ohene Kinnah, the leader said the community has no school block, portable drinking water, clinic, or CHP Compound and good roads.

He said residents are in need of urgent health services which has compelled them to travel to other communities to receive medical attention.

“When you fall sick, a motor bicycle would be used to convey you to a health center. If you don’t have access to a motor bicycle, you would be carried on shoulders because no car will come to this area due to the nature of our road here. The situation gets worse when one is in labor.

Although the area is poorly developed, it has vast potential for agriculture with its rich supply of rivers, fertile land majority of which is still virgin and It is one of the food-producing districts in the region, producing many staples such as yam, plantain, cassava as well as but due to bad nature of the roads in the area all their farm produce rot in their farms.

The group also threatened to boycott voting this year if the authorities in the Ayensuano District Assembly and the government failed to provide the necessary amenities to enhance their livelihood in the district.
