Kumasi Traditional Council has warned the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Chairman Wontumi to desist from mentioning the word kingdom in his language , wherever he finds himself speaking.
“I kindly request that you speak positively about the Asantehene whenever you discuss him. If you need to mention him, please do so for a good reason. As you know, the Asantehene is the only king with a kingdom in Ghana, specifically in the Ashanti region.
Therefore, my advice is to avoid using the term ‘kingdom’ in your language whenever you speak,” a member of the traditional council warned Wontumi.
This comes after Chairman Wontumi appeared before the Kumasi Traditional Council, i.e., the second-highest decision-making body within the Asante Kingdom, after being summoned for allegedly making some derogatory remarks about the Asantehene during the vetting of parliamentary aspirants inManhyia South, a constituency in Kumasi, Ashanti Region.
