The founder, leader, and flagbearer of the Liberal Party of Ghana (LPG), Mr Kofi Akpalu has raised concern about the affordable housing in the country and its benefit to ordinary Ghanaians.
Speaking on Plan B FM morning show NKOSUONSEM, with Nana Yaw Abromopah, Mr. Kofi Akpalu stated that the intention behind the affordable housing projects won’t be met if the poor or the ordinary Ghanaian can’t buy the house after completion.
He said if the houses could be rented out to the poor at an affordable prices instead of selling the houses, Ghanaians will be more beneficial because sometimes the prices of these affordable houses deter the poor and the ordinary Ghanaian.
Meanwhile, Ghana’s government has recognized the need for affordable housing and has launched several initiatives to address the problem. The National Housing Policy is one such initiative, which aims to increase access to affordable housing through collaborations with private sector developers and financial institutions. The government’s investment in affordable housing could be a game changer for Ghana’s housing future.
