WC2022: Ghana Will Face Portugal, Uruguay And South Korea In Group H

WC2022: Ghana Will Face Portugal, Uruguay And South Korea In Group H
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

Ghana have known their group stage opponents at the 2022 FIFA World Cup during a draw ceremony at the Doha Exhibition & Convention Center (DECC) in Qatar on Friday evening.

The Black Stars will face old foes Uruguay, Cristiano Ronaldo’s Portugal and South Korea in Group H after the draw in Ghana.

Ghana faced Portugal in the 2014 World Cup where they lost 2-1 in the group stages and lost on penalties to Uruguay in the quarter-finals of the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.

The Red, Gold and Green nation will take on South Korea for the very first time at the Mundial.

Ghana, the four-time African champions will be making their fourth appearance at the Mundial after participating in the 2006, 2010 and 2014 editions.

The West African giants returned to the World Cup on Tuesday after eliminating regional rivals Nigeria, advancing on away goal advantage.

Due to Qatar’s intense summer heat, this World Cup will be held from late-November to mid-December, making it the first tournament not to be held in May, June, or July; it is to be played in a reduced timeframe of around 28 days.

It is scheduled to take place in Qatar from 21 November to 18 December 2022 across five cities.

This will be the first World Cup ever to be held in the Arab world and it will be the second World Cup held entirely in Asia after the 2002 edition was held in South Korea and Japan.
