Some stakeholders in the fishing industry say the implementation of another closed season period during the minor upwelling season will yield no results.

According to them, the sector ministry must devise ways to effectively manage the fishing sector rather than focusing on closed season periods, as it is planning to implement.

Speaking on plan B FM’s Ebanoosen hosted By Bohyeba Afriyie Mr Kenneth Arthur said the ministry held meeting between themselves and all stakeholders to discuss whether the close season helped or not.

He stated that the leaders agreed that the result is not yet visible but as time Goes on it will.

He revealed that there are measures that can be implemented that will help the sector.

He concluded that what should be more dealt with is those who fish with trollers because they are the main cause of the problems.
