AFCON 2021: MOYS Summons GFA To Explain Black Stars Abysmal Performance

The Ministry of Youth and Sports is set to hold an emergency meeting with the leadership of the Ghana Football Association (GFA),  on Friday January 21, 2022 to explain the abysmal performance of the Black Stars in the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations tournament

Ghana suffered a shock exit from the tournament yesterday January 18, 2022 after losing to debutants Comoros by 3-2.

In a statement released by the Ministry of Youth and Sports on their twitter handle today,

it said the “The entire country is extremely disappointed by the abysmal performance and the early exit of the Black Stars in the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon”

The statement further stated that, “the Ministry of Youth and Sports is committed to taking urgent steps to ensure that the Black Stars is restored to it status as a symbol of national pride for all Ghanaians and a powerhouse of African football”

The defeat against Comoros was the first time the Black Stars have exited an AFCON without a single win. The last time Ghana went out at the group stage was in 2006.
