We Don’t Charge For Fighting Fire – Ghana National Fire Service

The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) has debunk assertion by a section of the public that they charge for services rendered during fire outbreaks reported within the Ghanaian communities.

Station Officer II, Nicholas Ohene Agyei and Assistant Station Officer, Solomon Ahinkra, both with the Devtraco fire station in an interview with Ohene Addo, host of Plan B FM ‘Nkosuo Nsem’, described such claims are false and added that it could not be true.

“Let me state again that, the service does not charge the public when there is a fire outbreak. These accusations are completely without merit and absolutely untrue,” Station Officer Ohene Adjei remarked.

“The National Fire Service is being financed with the tax payer’s money making it mandatory for us to respond to every fire call” he continued and explained that it would have been against the laws of this country for any personnel of the GNFS to demand for money for fighting fire when called upon to do so.

They further asked Ghanaians to show interest in fire educational programmes, heed to fire tips and give way to fire emergency  vehicles to help save lives and properties.

In conclusion, the fire fighters encouraged Ghanaians to assist the service by giving proper directions during a fire outbreak so they can show up on time to douse any fire outbreak.
