NLA Staff Call Off Protest

Calm has been restored at the National Lottery Authority (NLA); following agitation by workers on what they say is the continuous nationwide attack on them due to the failure of the Authority’s management to pay lottery wins.

Workers of NLA in the early hours of Monday, March 1, 2021, withdrew their services following constant nationwide attacks on them by disgruntled lottery winners.

Speaking to Ohene Addo on Plan B FM morning show “Nkosuo Nsem”, Local Secretary of the NLA workers Union, Nana Yaw Quansah disclosed that after a meeting with the National Labour Commission (NLC) and the National Lottery Authority (NLA) staff union and Director General of the Authority, Kofi Osei Ameyaw, an amicable solution has been reached to address concerns raised by the NLA staff members.

“The Authority has failed to pay wining draws as far back as April 2020. As a result of this, most of our colleagues have suffered attacks on their lives in Tamale and across the regions. Recently, a colleague who was heavily pregnant was also attacked” He indicated

“Our protest was in accordance with the Labour Act Section 119(1) 2003. Our lives are under threat. Management has refused to pay lotto wins. The winners of the lottery are attacking our colleagues all over the country. He stressed
