Zakaria Abdulai has resigned as the Juaben Constituency Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and withdrawn his candidature for the position of constituency chairman.

In a letter dated October 20, 2026, and addressed to the party’s General Secretary, Mr Abdulai announced that both decisions take immediate effect.

He expressed gratitude to friends, relatives and well-wishers who, he said, had maintained faith in his innocence amid allegations levelled against him.

Mr Abdulai also thanked the NDC for the opportunity to serve the party, describing his time as a member and officer as a privilege.

He said he would now devote his attention and resources to pursuing all lawful avenues to clear his name and vindicate his position.

The former constituency secretary expressed hope that he would return to active politics after the matters had been resolved and continue contributing to the party’s ideals and aspirations.

Copies of the letter were sent to the NDC National Chairman and the Ashanti Regional Chairman.
