Rev. Michael Banson has urged organisations to strengthen internal communication systems to curb the spread of rumours in the workplace.

Speaking on workplace dynamics, on Plan B FM’s Nyansapo Fie, hosted by Akosua Gyamfua,  he explained that communication is a constant feature in every organisation, particularly when management issues directives or instructions. However, he noted that problems arise when information is delayed or unclear, creating room for speculation among employees.

According to him, rumour mongering often begins when official communication has not yet been released, but individuals begin to discuss unverified information. This, he said, can lead to confusion, mistrust, and a breakdown in workplace harmony.

Rev. Banson emphasized that companies with the capacity and adequate resources should prioritise establishing clear and effective communication channels. He stressed that structured communication systems help ensure that accurate information reaches employees on time, reducing the likelihood of misinformation.

He concluded by advising workers at all levels to practice honest and respectful communication with one another, noting that transparency and mutual respect are essential for maintaining a healthy and productive work environment.
