Woman poisons herself and her two children at Offinso-Dwenedabi

A 35-year-old woman has allegedly poisoned herself and her two children at Dwenedabi, a farming community at Offinso in the Ashanti Region.

The woman, Sister Mansah, according to residents fed her children with weedicide, killing her three-year-old daughter, Abdulai Akua Hawa in the process.

Sister Mansah and her six-year-old son, Abdulai Sampson are however receiving treatment at the Techiman Holy Family Hospital.

Some residents in an interview with this reporter said the sad incident occurred on Monday, June 10, 2024.

They revealed that the woman after drinking the weedicide with her children went to her husband’s workplace to report to him her actions and asked him to save the children.

“The husband operates a drinking spot in the community so he was at the office when the woman went there to report the incident to him. She is reported to have asked the husband to rush home and save his children because she had given them weedicide,” a resident narrated.

The husband, Mr Kofi Abdulai in an interview said he had no idea what triggered the woman to poison his children.

He noted that he has reported the matter to police in the area who have since taken over the matter for further investigations.
