Minister for Employment, Jobs, and Labour Relations, Rashid Pelpuo, has revealed that the Akufo-Addo administration hired around 12,000 individuals into public sector roles shortly after the 2024 general election results.
Pelpuo disclosed that President John Dramani Mahama has initiated a committee to investigate the circumstances surrounding these mass recruitments, amid allegations of unjust dismissals.
The committee is tasked with scrutinizing the timing, processes, and motivations behind the appointments made during the transition period. The goal is to determine whether proper procedures were followed and if the move was politically driven.
Pelpuo emphasized in an interview the government’s commitment to transparency, stating, “The President has set up a committee to investigate all the people who are complaining of being sacked unfairly. I’m a co-chairman of that committee, and we’re working hard to provide them with a response.”
Pelpuo stressed that the committee’s findings will guide future actions, ensuring fairness in public sector recruitment.
