Weija Lake disaster: Nine children confirmed dead

Residents of Nnaawa, a community located along the Weija Lake in the Ga South Municipality were plunged into a state of shock when 12 children drowned under dramatic circumstances and nine children died in the process.

Speaking to Plan B News’ Ohene Kinnah from the scene on NKOSUONSEM, he said an elderly man who lives close to the lake said he saw the children entering the canoe but one of them seem frightened when the canoe started moving on the lake.He stated that, the posture caused the canoe to submerge into the lake.

Reports indicated that there no government officials at the scene as the time this report was filed.
