Unlimited power, unlimited problems: Rev. Banson sounds the alarm

Unlimited power, unlimited problems: Rev. Banson sounds the alarm
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

Rev. Michael Yaw Banson, Resident Pastor of Rehoboth Holyfire Revival Ministries International, has issued a stark warning about the dangers of unchecked power. In a recent interview with Nana Asabea on Plan B FM’s social and lifestyle program Nyansapɔ Fie, Rev. Banson emphasized the importance of setting boundaries on authority, cautioning that unlimited power inevitably leads to devastating consequences.

Drawing on the timeless adage, “absolute power corrupts absolutely,” Rev. Banson explained how unchecked authority often fosters corruption. He stressed that ultimate authority resides with God and urged humanity to acknowledge and respect this divine sovereignty.

“A key aspect of God’s character is His commitment to operating on principles without exempting Himself,” he noted. “In contrast, humans often seek to circumvent the laws they establish, believing themselves to be above the law.”

Rev. Banson also highlighted the grave dangers of unchecked authority, warning that it can lead to heinous crimes, including paedophilia, rape, and other deviant behaviors. “These crimes are often perpetrated by individuals who wield unlimited authority and consider themselves untouchable,” he stated.

To combat these issues, Rev. Banson proposed the establishment of clear boundaries on authority. “A system of checks and balances is essential,” he argued. “This can be achieved by ensuring the independence of each branch of government—the Executive, Legislature, and Judiciary. By doing so, we can prevent the abuse of authority and promote accountability.”
