The Ghana Police Service has apprehended one person, Atsu Adadevoh, and declared Etse Adadevoh wanted for defrauding a military woman of GH¢62,165.
According to the facts of the case presented by the prosecutor, Superintendent of Police Mr Augustine A.Yirenkyi, the two accused persons approached the victim while posing as businessmen residing in Teshie in 2022.
The accused, both aged 39, told the victim, Madam Attitsogbui, to make a payment of GH¢62,165 as store rent for one year.
Unsuspecting of their dubious schemes, the victim paid the amount to the accused persons, hoping to receive documents to support their tenancy agreement.
Superintendent Yirenkyi, however, noted that the twins upon, receiving payment, absconded, failing to honour their promise.
The incident was reported to the police on July 31, 2024, where an investigation commenced, according to a myjoyonline.com report.
Atsu, the elder of the twins, was arrested on August 1. He admitted to committing the offence claiming that he and his twin brother collected less than GH¢62,165 from the complainant but he could not name the specific amount.
Atsu has been remanded into police custody by the Accra Circuit Court Nine and is to reappear on August 13, 2024.
Meanwhile, the court presided over by Samuel Bright Acquah has issued a bench warrant for the arrest of Etse Adadevoh who is still at large and for failing to attend court.
