The Accra Regional Police Command has arrested three foreign nationals in connection with an alleged SIM box fraud operation at Sakumono in Accra.
The suspects were apprehended on Wednesday, January 21, 2026, following intelligence-led operations conducted within residential apartments at the Sakumono Ramsa site. They have been identified as Timileyin Fakunle, aged 30; Begun Adedeji, aged 31; and Olamide Roheemot, aged 28. Police say the suspects were arrested in separate apartments.
A search conducted at the premises led to the retrieval of sophisticated electronic equipment, including SIM boxes and several assorted SIM cards, believed to have been used in the commission of the alleged fraudulent activities.
During interrogation, the suspects mentioned two additional accomplices, identified only as Mike and Kpalumi, who are currently on the run. They also disclosed that the alleged ringleader, identified as Tomy, a Chinese national, operates remotely and remains at large.
The Police Command says it is currently liaising with the National Communications Authority (NCA) to facilitate the safe removal and technical examination of the retrieved equipment to support ongoing investigations.
The suspects are currently in police custody as investigations continue.
Meanwhile, the Accra Regional Police Command has cautioned the general public, particularly property owners and residents, against renting or subletting premises to unknown persons without conducting proper background checks. Members of the public have also been urged to remain vigilant and promptly report any suspicious activities to the Police.
The Command reaffirmed its commitment to combating cyber and telecommunication-related crimes to safeguard the public.
The statement was signed by Superintendent Juliana Obeng, Head of Public Affairs, Accra Region.
