Thieves attack DRIP equipment at Konongo

Thieves attack DRIP equipment at Konongo

A battery was stolen from a tipper truck, part of the District Road Improvement Project (DRIP), in Konongo within the Asante Akim Central Municipality.

The truck, along with other DRIP equipment, was parked at the Asante Akim Central Municipal Assembly premises while officials awaited the completion of training for the machine operators.

During a routine check on Thursday, officials discovered the battery was missing, prompting immediate notification to the police.

Municipal Chief Executive Robert Yaw Kwaakye has reportedly condemned the theft, emphasizing that such actions could hinder the government’s efforts.

He also assured that the Assembly would increase surveillance to protect the equipment.

Police in Konongo have launched an investigation into the theft.
