Lawrence Ohene-Darko, the second son of Mr and Mrs Ohene-Darko had never estimated in his 34-year-old life to have had enemies, he would have taken serval precautions if it ever occurred to him to have had enemies who wanted him dead, said the sister, Loretha as she sat helplessly crying over the death of her brother. We said goodnight to each other last night after our family dinner, we never assumed it was our final goodbye to each other, the elder of brother of Lawrence, William Ohene-Darko said.
The Ohene-Darko family had invited their three children over for the family diner of Lawrence Ohene-Darko’s birthday on Saturday. The family had celebrated Lawrence’s 34th birthday in a small family dinner they usually do to celebrate each other, and said goodnight as each of the three children departed to their apartments within the Sunyani township.
Lawrence was scheduled to be home before ten in the evening and was able to phone his parents to make them know he had arrived at home. The last person who spoke to Lawrence, was his mother, Mrs Sarah Ohene-Darko before Lawrence made his way to bed. Nobody knew what happened to him at home form the half-past ten he spoke to his mother last night, until this morning when the mother was calling to check up on him.
The family after the birthday dinner last night, had decided to attend Ebenezer Presbyterian Church, Sunyani for Sunday Thanksgiving, but Lawrence wasn’t picking his calls at eight o’clock this morning. Lawrence elder brother, William, was called to check up on his brother since he was nearer to him but he was met with Lawrence’s body.
What seemed to be a robbery attack, had taken the life of the 34-year-old Physician Assistant of Owusu Memorial Hospital. Nothing was taken from the house, though the doors were broken from the outside before the murderers got inside. Everything seemed scattered but nothing was stolen.
Lawrence neighbour, Cynthia Oppong, alleged to have heard something from her room during dawn. They said it was payback, and they meant what they said, but I thought he was speaking to someone on the phone since the sound came out of his room. You cannot hear someone when they are in their rooms, but since the doors were open, I was able to hear them. I thought Lawrence was making a phone call outside his room, I had no idea it was the murderers, Cynthia Oppong said in her police report to the Sunyani Police.
The police are investigating a possible cause that might be the link to Lawrence’s death; a twelve-year-old accident victim that died in the care of Lawrence. The boy who’s name has been withheld, is alleged to have died before getting him to the hospital, but the father of the boy blamed Lawrence for the boy’s death that, Lawrence was on phone during the cause of treating the boy and that made the boy lose his life.
I will pay you back for taking my son’s life, the father of the boy said on 30 July 2021. According to Owusu Memorial Hospital nurses at the emergency ward on that day, the boy was already dead but Lawrence was trying to revive him with everything he knew, and that made him phoned different specialists to seek their help in bringing back the boy to life, but he was already dead. The father blamed Lawrence for concentrating on his phone while his son was dying. He refused to listen to the advice of the nurses who confirmed that, it was Lawrence that was rather trying to bring his son to life.
The police are on the hunt for the father of the twelve-year-old boy; Bright Anckrah, 46, to aid with police investigations. It is suspected he is the only one who might have a hand in Lawrence’s death looking at how his son died at the hands of Lawrence on 30 July 2021.
