Kwame Jantuah, Esq., a prominent member of the Convention People’s Party (CPP), has publicly called on the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) to take a bold step in its investigation into the National Cathedral project by inviting former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for questioning.
Speaking during a media interaction, Mr. Jantuah emphasized that transparency and accountability are critical components of good governance and democratic development.
He stated that the controversies surrounding the construction of the National Cathedral cannot be thoroughly addressed without engaging the key individuals who initiated and championed the project, most notably the former president himself.
According to Mr. Jantuah, it is only proper for the OSP to exercise its mandate without fear or favor by extending an invitation to the former president to answer questions regarding decisions made, funds allocated, and contracts awarded under his administration in connection with the cathedral project.
He stressed that the mere stature or former position of an individual should not shield them from being scrutinized if their actions are connected to public resources and national interest.
He further argued that inviting former President Akufo-Addo would send a strong signal that the fight against corruption is genuine, impartial, and far-reaching.
Mr. Jantuah insisted that such a move would not only help restore public confidence in state institutions but would also help set a precedent for accountability at the highest levels of government.
In recent years, the National Cathedral project has faced significant criticism due to issues related to funding, transparency, and procurement procedures.
With public scrutiny intensifying, Mr. Jantuah’s call highlights the growing demand for clarity and justice in the use of public funds.
