Residents of Tema East are on edge as they await the President’s appointment of a new mayor for the municipality. The uncertainty has sparked conversations among political figures and citizens alike, with growing calls for a leader who is both competent and deeply connected to the community.
Speaking on the Ebanosen Show on Plan B 104.5 FM, Iddrissu Ahmed of the National Democratic Congress emphasized the importance of selecting a versatile individual capable of driving meaningful development in the area.
“The President must ensure that the appointed mayor meets all the necessary criteria,” Ahmed said.
“We need someone who understands the people at the grassroots level and can work closely with them.”
According to residents, imposing an unfamiliar candidate without community backing could disturb the peace and unity in Tema East.
“If someone is imposed on us, Tema won’t be a peaceful place,” Ahmed warned, echoing the concerns of many locals.
“We are patient and waiting on the President because we believe he wants what’s best for Tema.”
Locals are urging the government to strike a balance by choosing a qualified, community-oriented leader who can foster growth and maintain harmony in the municipality.
