Tema Regional Fire Service Honours 28 Retiring Firefighters
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

The Tema Regional Fire Service has paid a heartfelt tribute to 28 devoted firefighters, marking the culmination of their distinguished careers and ushering them into a well-deserved retirement. This poignant ceremony serves as a testament to the firefighters’ unwavering bravery and commitment to safeguarding their communities, often at great personal risk.

Special guest, Okofrogya Nana Dr Albert Brown Gaisie, formerly the Chief Fire Officer and currently Apemaseka Hene of Afua Yaw Traditional Area, graciously honoured the 28 retiring firefighters in the presence of the esteemed Chiefs and Queens of the Prampram Traditional Area.

The Chief Fire Officer for the region, Assistant Chief Fire Officer Patrick Sela, revealed that the years of service for the retiring firefighters ranged from 28 to 35 years, highlighting their remarkable dedication and longevity in the service. He also acknowledged the significant health risks they faced, including exposure to poisonous substances during their active service.

The immediate past Regional Commander, Deputy Chief Fire Officer Doris Lamptey, expressed her delight in witnessing the honouring of the retirees, citing the Legislative Instrument that mandates such recognition for firefighters who have served the nation.

The ceremony brought together retirees from all 13 districts under the Tema Region, demonstrating the service’s commitment to honouring its dedicated personnel. Both Patrick Sela and DCFO Lamptey urged the retirees to share their wealth of experience and expertise with active personnel, ensuring a seamless transfer of knowledge and skills.

This ceremony marks a significant milestone in the region’s efforts to recognise and reward the selfless service of its firefighters, putting smiles on the faces of the retirees. As noted in Retirement Quotes For Firefighters, “retirement is a time to celebrate the incredible dedication and selflessness exhibited by firefighters throughout their careers”.
