Tema Parents’ Association School today held its much-anticipated 2025 Career Day program at the school premises under the theme “Explorations of Profession in a Digital Age.” The event brought together a diverse array of professionals, including parents, guardians, alumni, journalists, and industry experts, who engaged pupils in enlightening discussions about career choices and the evolving world of work in the digital era.
The Career Day served as a platform for the students to interact directly with seasoned professionals across various fields, including medicine, law, engineering, journalism, technology, education, aviation, fashion, and creative arts. It was also an opportunity to highlight how digitalization is reshaping traditional professions and creating new opportunities for the future workforce.
In her welcome address, The Chief Executive Officer (CEO), of Tema Parents’ Association School, Docia Ocansey, emphasized the importance of early career guidance in helping children discover their passions and make informed decisions. “We live in a fast-changing world where technology is transforming the workplace. It’s important our pupils begin to understand the dynamics of this digital shift and the skills they will need to thrive,” she said.
The event was marked by a series of interactive sessions, where guest speakers shared personal experiences, challenges, and lessons from their professional journeys. Several of them also demonstrated how digital tools and innovation have become central to their daily work.
An alumnus of the school and software engineer, David Nartey, urged the students to embrace technology, creativity, and continuous learning. “You don’t have to wait till you’re older to start building something. Today’s digital tools allow you to explore your interests early whether it’s coding, video editing, or writing,” he noted.
Parents and guardians also took turns to share their career stories and offered practical advice on discipline, time management, and resilience. The interactive atmosphere gave students the opportunity to ask questions, explore different career paths, and receive guidance on aligning their talents with future job prospects.
Broadcast Journalist with Tema based Plan B 104.5 FM, Bernard Mensah highlighted the importance of storytelling, ethical communication, and the role of the media in society, encouraging students with a passion for current affairs and writing to pursue careers in journalism and media.
The program concluded with a vibrant exhibition where students showcased projects and talents inspired by various professions. The event was described by many as “a resounding success” and a crucial step in equipping the next generation with a future-oriented mindset.
As the world continues to evolve rapidly with technology at the helm, Tema Parents’ School remains committed to preparing its students for the global job market and nurturing them into responsible, forward-thinking citizens.
