The Assembly members for the Ashiboi and Padmore electoral areas in the Tema Metropolis have hinted at coming together to beef up security in their electoral areas.

Speaking on Plan B FM’s morning show NKOSUONSEM hosted by Obidehye Kofi Sekyi, Mr. Charles Amos the Assemblyman for Padmore electoral area stressed that, thieves have been tormenting the lives of people in his electoral area making people lose their properties and valuables.

The Assemblyman alleged that there is a place called Community 5000 a slump occupied by criminals.

He called on city authorities to demolish the place and evacuate the squatters which according to him serve as breeding grounds for criminals.

He also called on the police to beef up their operations to clamp down on these criminals from the area. He believes that he if the watchdog committee is formed it will help reduce the activities of criminal.

The Assemblyman alleged that the police lack patrol vehicles to patrol the area frequently and that could also be the reason why criminal activities are on the rise.

The story was not different at the Ashiboi electoral area as the Assemblyman Mr. Godsway Kweku narrated that, the increased rate of Okada riders in his area has become a security threat because some motor riders portray as if they are Okada riders and snatching peoples’ bags and belonging in his area, he also stressed that no streetlights is working in his area which has become a panacea for theft in his electoral area.

He also believes that if the watchdog committee is formed it will help to stop all criminal activities because the watchdog will question every individual who looks suspicious at odd hours and that would prevent people from indulging in criminal activity with the help of the police.
