Strengthening the rule of law key to national progress – Thomas Aryetey

Strengthening the rule of law key to national progress – Thomas Aryetey
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

Thomas Aryetey has emphasised the need for strict and consistent enforcement of Ghana’s laws, arguing that meaningful national progress can only be achieved when the rule of law is applied without fear or favour.

Speaking on Plan B FM’s “Ebaanosen” show, hosted by ADOMBA DE-STARBOY, Mr. Aryetey stressed that laws governing the country must be enforced fairly and consistently for all citizens, regardless of status or affiliation.

He cautioned against selective justice, noting that the integrity of the legal system is weakened when individuals escape accountability due to family ties, friendships, or personal connections.

Mr. Aryetey further questioned Ghana’s progress as a nation if laws are applied unevenly, arguing that sustainable development is rooted in accountability and equal treatment before the law.

He maintained that no individual should be placed above the law, insisting that anyone who violates it must face the appropriate legal consequences.

He concluded that firm enforcement of the law would not only deter wrongdoing but also reinforce public confidence in the justice system by demonstrating that justice applies equally to all citizens.
