Speaking on the Breakfast show on GBC this morning, the lecturer made it clear that the IMF will never help the country. He continued and revealed that the country has visited the IMF 17 times already and nothing good came out of it. Due to this he has suggested a better way for the government to follow in order to bring the economy back to life.
Dr. Anane revealed that some of the deputy ministers in the country have no jobs at all. He used the word “glorified messengers” to describe the kind of work these deputy ministers do. He added that they go to work and do nothing because the main minister does all the work. He added that deputy ministers who get lucky are those who get little delegation from the main ministers to cut sod for some projects.
Dr. Anane believes that the president can save the financial condition of the country when salaries for CEOs are cut by half. He believes that a lot of Ghanaians are willing to take half of what CEOs of public businesses are taking as salary. He is therefore urging the president to leave IMF alone and do the needful.
“We are not thinking right. We are not putting our house on order. If you have more than 100 ministers. Germany population is 84 million but they have 26 ministers. Japan, a country of 126 million people have 19 ministers. So why do we pay people for doing nothing.”
“We are paying them these salaries which is very offensive to CEOs who are not performing. Deputy ministers who are just like glorified messengers” he said
