Relationship and social issues analyst Muhammad Husein Acquah has stated that sexual desire in marriage is not wrong, but rather becomes meaningful and beautiful when it is guided by love, mercy, responsibility, and mutual respect.
Speaking on the dynamics of marriage, Mr. Acquah explained that desire itself is natural and part of God’s design for humanity. According to him, having feelings of attraction is not a sin, as God intentionally created human beings with such emotions.
“Desire is something God placed in us,” he noted, adding that it plays an important role in strengthening the bond between husband and wife when properly managed.
However, he cautioned that when desire grows into uncontrolled lust, it can seriously damage a marriage. He explained that unchecked lust often leads to selfishness, betrayal, and emotional disconnection between partners.
Mr. Acquah emphasized that couples must learn to discipline their desires and allow love, mercy, and respect to guide their intimacy. He said when both partners take responsibility for their actions and honour each other, sexual desire becomes a blessing rather than a source of conflict.
He concluded by urging married couples to prioritize emotional connection and mutual understanding, stressing that healthy intimacy thrives where there is trust and commitment.
