Richard Anning, a member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has called for the mandatory use of effective tracking systems on tanker trucks to improve monitoring, accountability and regulation within the industry.
Speaking on Plan B FM’s EBAANOSEN, hosted by Adomba De-Starboy, Mr. Anning said institutional leaders must identify operational challenges and introduce practical measures to address them when they assume office.
He stressed the importance of regular audits and comparative assessments of an organisation’s operations to identify weaknesses and guide management in taking corrective action.
According to him, if an audit reveals that some tanker trucks cannot be properly tracked, management should take immediate steps to prevent such vehicles from being loaded.
Mr. Anning therefore proposed that companies should make functional tracking systems a mandatory requirement for all tanker trucks, insisting that vehicles without proper tracking capabilities should not be allowed to load.
He said such a policy would make it easier to monitor tanker movements, strengthen accountability and prevent potential lapses in the management of tanker operations.
Mr. Anning further argued that identifying a problem should not be the end of the process, stressing that institutions must develop and enforce practical measures to prevent similar challenges from recurring.
He said such interventions must ultimately be aligned with the organisation’s broader aims and objectives.
