Rev Oppong to Public: Assist responsible men in financial difficulty to regain confidence
Rev. Benjamin Oppong, Head Pastor of Mount Horeb Victorious Church, has appealed to spouses and friends of responsible men to offer financial assistance when needed, as financial helplessness can lead to indecisiveness.
Speaking on Plan B FM’s “Nyansapɔ Fie,” Rev. Oppong referenced Ecclesiastes 4:9-12, highlighting the mutual benefits of friendships and marriages. “Two are better than one… a partner should help me flourish, not vice versa. Woe unto him that is alone, financially or otherwise.”
He cited renowned marriage counsellor Ɔpanyin Kwadwo Kyerɛ, who emphasised that “everybody needs somebody” and that no human is self-sufficient. Rev. Oppong added, “A responsible man who is financially helpless needs assistance, lest he becomes indecisive and his relationships suffer.”
Rev. Oppong also referenced the exemplary friendship between business moguls Dr Kwame Despite and Dr Ofori Sarpong, who mutually benefited from each other.
Muhammad Hussain Acquah, a renowned educator and religious leader, noted that emotional support is crucial in relationships. “When one is emotionally unsupported or misunderstood, it leads to helplessness…Repeatedly encountering unresolved conflict can leave feelings stuck, hopeless, or incapable of finding solutions.”
He emphasised that emotional helplessness can have dire consequences on relationships and encouraged partners to communicate effectively and offer support. “Effective communication is key to resolving conflicts and preventing emotional helplessness,” he explained. “Partners must learn to listen actively, empathise with each other’s feelings, and work together to find solutions.”
Husain Acquah also highlighted the importance of emotional intelligence in relationships. “Emotional intelligence helps individuals to recognise and manage their emotions, as well as empathise with their partner’s feelings,” he said. “By developing emotional intelligence, partners can better navigate conflicts and build stronger, more resilient relationships.”
In conclusion, Rev. Oppong and Muhammad Hussain Acquah’s insights highlight the importance of supporting responsible men in financial difficulty and promoting emotional support in relationships. By offering financial assistance, emotional support, and fostering effective communication and emotional intelligence, we can help individuals regain confidence, strengthen their relationships, and build a supportive community that uplifts and empowers one another.
