Rev Dr Aning Jnr Warns: “Excuses Can Cripple Your Vision”

“Words Create Reality, Speak Your Future into Existence” – Rev. Dr. Aning

Rev. Dr. Emmanuel Appiah Aning Jnr, General Secretary of the Shepherd to Shepherd Network Clergy and Head Pastor of the Doxa Citadel Church, has urged the masses to avoid making excuses wherever possible, as they can cripple one’s vision.

In an interview with Odiamono Kwaku Gyimah on Plan B FM’s social and lifestyle programme, “Nyansapɔ Fie”, he emphasised the importance of being mindful of one’s surroundings and circumstances, noting that success is not guaranteed, even for professionals such as musicians, actors, broadcast journalists, and lawyers, many of whom face setbacks and failures before achieving their goals. Seeking help and perseverance are crucial to overcoming challenges and achieving success.

“Self-encouragement and faith are essential in overcoming self-doubt,” he said. “By acknowledging one’s qualifications and seeking strength from a higher power, individuals can build confidence and effectively communicate with others. The Bible verse, ‘I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me’ (Philippians 4:13), serves as a powerful reminder to avoid justifying shortcomings with excuses.”

Rev Sam Manful, Head Pastor of Global Ark of Grace Chapel, echoed Dr Aning’s sentiments, attributing the demise of responsibilities to the birth of excuses.

“Excuses have paved the way for shifting responsibilities and caused the breakdown of relationships and family systems, as seen in the times of Adam and Eve,” he said. “The leadership role God gave Adam, which came with responsibilities, has been marred by excuses, becoming an intergenerational issue.”

“It is vital to take responsibility and not make excuses,” Rev Manful emphasised. “Let’s focus on nurturing our children to own their mistakes, learn from them, and grow, rather than making excuses.”
