Redirect V8 funds to address housing deficit – Gov’t Told

Redirect V8 funds to address housing deficit – Gov’t Told
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

In a recent interview on Plan B FM’s social and lifestyle show, ‘Nyansapɔ Fie,’ Rev. Michael Yaw Banson, Resident Pastor of The Rehoboth Holyfire Revival Ministries International, urged the government to redirect funds allocated for V8 vehicles to tackle Ghana’s housing deficit.

He emphasized that this move would provide decent housing for citizens, improve living conditions, and boost economic growth.

Rev. Banson pointed out that the existence of slums in Ghana, such as Sodom and Gomorrah, is a source of international embarrassment and a challenging management task. He stressed that the government should not have allowed people to settle in these areas in the first place.

Ghana faces a significant housing deficit, estimated at around one million units. Rev. Banson suggested that the government should consistently provide at least 50 housing units annually to bridge the gap.

”By redirecting V8 funds, the government can make a meaningful impact on addressing Ghana’s housing deficit and improving the lives of its citizens,” he stressed.

Additionally, Rev. Dr. Christiana Otoo Lartey, Senior Pastor of Assemblies of God, Kingdom Chapel, called on the government to fast-track affordable housing units and ensure even distribution to interested buyers. She highlighted the challenge of high rent prices, ranging from GH₵2,500.00 to GH₵3,000.00 monthly for a 2-bedroom self-contained room.
