Prophet Ebenezer Dunamis, leader of the Army of God Revival Centre, has issued an important advisory to individuals who regularly attend funerals or visit the deceased to have a spiritual bath.
During an appearance on Plan B FM’s “Nyamesom Mmerɛ” show, hosted by Odiamono Kwaku Gyimah, Prophet Dunamis stressed the significance of taking spiritual precautions to safeguard oneself against potential negative energies or malevolent spirits.
In his view, taking a spiritual bath after attending funerals or visiting the dead can help ward off negative energies and preserve spiritual well-being. This practice, he believes, can bring about purification and protection, enabling individuals to better navigate challenging situations and maintain a sense of balance and protection.
However, Rev. Benjamin Boateng, leader of the Assemblies Of God Cornerstone Family Chapel, disagrees.
“I don’t believe in spiritual bathing after having an encounter with human remains, as Jesus never had a spiritual bath after visiting the dead,” he said.
Rev. Boateng’s concern lies with the unnecessary elements often associated with funerals.
In contrast, Prophet Isaac Asante, leader of Rema Prayer Ministry, recommends bathing with Florida water mixed with salt and water after visiting the dead to safeguard against negative energies.
He also cautions against attending wake-keepings with babies, deeming it dangerous.
Notably, Prophet Asante charges GH₵5,000 before burying non-members of his ministry, citing the need for self-purification.
On his part, the leader of True Grace International Ministry, Pastor Daasebre Adu-Asare, shared a different approach. Per his training, he still runs away from coffins and the dead, even in his old age. He advised, “Never take it lightly after visiting the dead. Fast after the burial when you didn’t have the materials for spiritual bath,” he said.
