President Akufo-Addo Accepts Amidu’s Resignation

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has accepted Mr. Martin Amidu’s resignation as Special Prosecutor and has thanked him.

In a letter signed by the Chief of Staff, Hon. Akosua Frema Osei-Opare it read, “This is to acknowledge receipt of your letter, dated 16th November, 2020 (Ref: OSP/2/AM/14), addressed to the President of the Republic conveying to him your decision to resign from office as Special Prosecutor, which he has accepted”.

According to the letter, “The President has also taken due note of the other matters raised in the letter, and the Government will issue a statement responding to them in due course”.

The President also directed the Chief of Staff to ensure that all emoluments and benefits due Mr Martin Amidu under law are paid accordingly.

The Presidency and the Board of the Office of The Special Prosecutor are holding a meeting over the decision of Mr Martin Amidu.

Information gathered indicates that the deliberations are to determine the way forward regarding the development.
