Poor parenting and broken homes are risk factors for teenage Pregnancy

Teenage Pregnancy Is Costing Lives Of Young Girls In Ghana; Parents Must Develop Interest In The Everyday Activities Of Their Wards

Political analyst Alex Emmanuel  has attributed the high cases of teenage pregnancy to the-get-rich-quick syndrome among young girls.

According to him, teenage girls now want to own the latest phones, dresses among other things which then pushes them to sleep with men for money.

Speaking on Plan B FM’s ‘Ebaanosen’ with Ohene Kinnah, Alex Emmanuel added that teenage girls  who have suffered parental neglect or who come from broken homes are more likely to become teenage parents.

His comments come after statistics from the 2022 Ghana Demographic and Health Survey (GDHS) released by the Ghana Statistical Service (GSS) on adolescent childbearing on the occasion of International Day of the Girl on Wednesday, 11 October, 2023 which had Bono East Region records highest level of adolescent  child birth in Ghana.
