Police restore calm after violent cutlass clash at Akyem Oda
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

The Ghana Police Service says calm has been restored at New Station in Akyem Oda following a violent clash involving a group of young men wielding cutlasses.

According to a press release issued by the Eastern South Regional Police Command on May 6, 2026, police officers were deployed to the area after a viral video showed the suspects attacking each other in broad daylight.

The statement revealed that two injured suspects were later found receiving treatment at separate hospitals. One of them, identified as George Okyere, reportedly sustained a deep cut to his forehead and had one of his fingers severed during the confrontation. Another suspect, Paul Pascalele, was receiving treatment for a deep cut on his right hand at the Akyem Oda Government Hospital.

Police also confirmed the arrest of Evans Adayele, who was picked up from his hideout to assist with investigations.

The police say efforts are ongoing to arrest other suspects connected to the violence as investigations continue.
