The Northern Regional Police Command has commenced investigations into the deaths of three children whose bodies were discovered in the boot of a vehicle at Koblimahigu Zoo in the Tamale Metropolis.
The deceased have been identified as Dauda Abdul Aziz, 3; Saani Alsharaf, 5; and Dauda Fadilan, 7.
According to a press release issued by the Northern Regional Police Command on Monday, October 5, 2026, with reference number PAU.3/NR/VOL.1/076, the children reportedly left home for Islamic classes at about 8:00 a.m. on Sunday, October 4, but failed to return.
Efforts by community members to locate them were unsuccessful until about 5:00 a.m. on Monday, October 5, when their bodies were discovered inside the boot of a black Hyundai Tucson with registration number AS 1770-14.
The police said officers immediately proceeded to the scene after receiving the complaint.
Preliminary inspection of the vehicle, which was reportedly found stuck in mud on a road leading to the area, showed that the driver’s door and the rear passenger door behind the driver’s seat were open.
The other doors, including the boot, were reportedly locked.
Police preliminary investigations indicate that the vehicle belongs to a personnel of the Ghana Immigration Service, who told investigators that the vehicle had been stuck in the mud for the past five days.
The individual has since been arrested and is being taken to Accra to assist with the investigation.
