The Accra Regional Police Command has arrested two suspects in connection with the murder of a 54-year-old man and the shooting and injury of his wife at Beach Drive Estate, Tuba, near Weija.
The suspects have been identified as Adams Adder Almeida and his brother, Bala Bilyon.
According to the Police, the incident occurred on Thursday, August 6, 2026, after the Weija Police received information that a man and his wife had been shot and wounded at the Beach Drive Estate.
A police team dispatched to the scene found Rahman Mohamed and his wife, Christiana Fosu, with gunshot wounds outside their four-bedroom apartment.
The victims were rushed to Finney Hospital at Weija, where Rahman Mohamed was pronounced dead on arrival. His wife, Christiana Fosu, was subsequently referred to the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital, where she is currently receiving treatment.
The body of the deceased has been deposited at the Police Hospital Mortuary pending autopsy.
The Police said during interrogation, suspect Adams Adder Almeida allegedly admitted to shooting Rahman Mohamed and his wife.
He reportedly told investigators that he was motivated by his perception that the deceased had repeatedly described him as “lazy and useless,” which he claimed had affected him mentally.
Police investigations subsequently led officers to the room of Adams Almeida’s brother, Bala Bilyon, at the Beach Drive Estate, where a pistol believed to have been used in the shooting was retrieved from beneath a wall drop.
Investigations further established that the two suspects reside together in the same room at Tuba.
Adams Almeida also allegedly told investigators that the pistol had been given to him by a friend identified as Gideon. Police visited Gideon’s residence at Tuba but did not find him there.
The Police say efforts are ongoing to locate Gideon to assist with investigations, while Bala Bilyon remains in custody for interrogation.
The investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shooting and the possible involvement of other persons is ongoing.
