Parliament has confirmed that the Member of Parliament for Madina, Hon. Dr Francis-Xavier Sosu, is in stable condition after falling ill while delivering a presentation at the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA).
A video circulating on social media shows the legislator taking ill during the presentation on Thursday.
According to a statement issued by Parliament’s Director of Media Relations, David Sebastian Damoah, Dr Sosu received immediate assistance at the event and was subsequently transferred to a medical facility for further attention.
Parliament said he is currently receiving medical care and remains under the supervision of his medical team.
The institution expressed appreciation to the management and staff of GIMPA, medical personnel and others who responded promptly to the incident.
Parliament also thanked members of the public for their prayers and messages of goodwill.
It has, however, urged the public and media organisations to desist from sharing the video of the incident out of respect for Dr Sosu and his family.
The public has also been advised against speculating about the cause of the incident or his medical condition.
Parliament said further updates on the MP’s condition will be communicated through its official channels as appropriate.
