Osu Asafo group petitions gov’t over alleged sale of Achimota forest lands

Achimota Forest Will Not Be Sold – Abu Jinapor
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

A group known as the Osu Kinkawe Asafo Company in the Greater Accra Region has petitioned the Forestry Commission, raising concerns over what they describe as the encroachment of the Achimota Forest Reserve by an “estate developer.”

The group is urging President Akufo-Addo to take immediate action to remove the bulldozers and excavators from the forest to protect the reserve.

This petition dated August 8, 2024 follows recent allegations that the government is reclassifying the Achimota Forest.

Signed by Osu Dzaase Asafoatse Nii Tempong Sarpei III, the petition calls for the President’s swift intervention to ensure that the Achimota Forest Reserve remains preserved and intact.
