The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has taken note of public allegations of extortion and related conduct made by the Chief Executive of the Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod), Sammy Gyamfi, against the Minority Leader of Parliament, Alexander Afenyo-Markin.
In a public notice dated August 24, 2026, the OSP said it had also acknowledged a joint petition submitted by two individuals, as well as two separate petitions from other persons, in connection with the allegations.
The anti-corruption agency said, given the nature of the allegations, it would assess the case to determine whether the matter falls within its statutory mandate.
The OSP will also determine whether further investigative action is warranted.
The allegations involving the two public officials have attracted public attention, with the OSP’s latest notice indicating that the matter is now being assessed by the office.
The OSP, however, has not stated that an investigation has commenced, but says it will first determine whether the case falls within its jurisdiction and whether further action is necessary.
