NPP’s Tamakloe accuses NDC government of aiding illegal mining through GOLDBOD

A member of the NPP communication team for Tema West, James Tamakloe, has accused the NDC government of indirectly supporting illegal mining activities through the establishment of GOLDBOD, an institution responsible for buying and regulating gold transactions.

According to him, while the initiative appears to formalize gold trading, it is rather fueling illegal mining operations across the country. He expressed concern about the direction in which the country’s gold sector is heading, describing it as “disturbing.”

Tamakloe also referenced recent comments by the GJA President, noting that his call for decisive leadership on the galamsey menace should serve as a wake-up call to the President to take immediate action.

He further compared the current government’s efforts to that of former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, stating that the previous administration demonstrated stronger commitment and took decisive actions in combating illegal mining.
