The Member of Parliament for Abetifi who doubles as the Minister of Food and Agriculture, Hon. Bryan Acheampong’s decision to buy 60% shares of four hotels belonging to the Social Security and National Insurance Trust(SSNIT) continues to generate controversies.
Since it came to light that the owner of Rock City Hotel has won a bid to procure 60% stake in the four hotels, concerns have been raised by Ghanaians condemning the act of the Minister of state to purchase 60% shares in state’s property.
Responding to this on Plan B Fm’s ‘Nkosuonsem’ hosted by Obidehyie Kofi Sekyi, a Communication team Member of the New Patriotic Party NPP in the Tema Central Constituency, Mr. Richard Aning said that Bryan Acheampong is a Ghanaian, therefore he sees nothing wrong with him deciding to procure 60% shares in the four hotels.
“Foreigners always take over state’s institution in Ghana which Ghanaians keep mute but when a Ghanaian shows interest in procuring shares in the state’s institution then you see Ghanaians commenting. Ghanaians need attitutional change in the work they do. A Ghanaian who works with a private entity work accurately and with positive minded but that same person will have different mindset when working with a state institution ” he indicated
