Portuguese manager, Carlos Queiroz has said that taking over as Black Stars head coach is the toughest challenge in his managerial career.
In his first words as coach, he expressed appreciation to the government, the Ghana Football Association(GFA), and all the fans who supported his appointment.
He acknowledged how dear the Black Stars are to Ghanaians and the huge expectations placed on the team, noting that this pressure makes the role even more demanding.

Speaking to the media at the Alisa Hotel on April 23, 2026, Queiroz said the Black Stars job will be the toughest of his career, but he is determined to give his best.
“I am grateful, starting from the Federation president, the board, the government of Ghana that supports me, and the fans. It is an honor and a privilege to be here today. Since I arrived, I have felt the soul of the Black Stars.
“Yesterday, I saw and felt the vibration, and I realized that the soul of the Black Stars is huge. That means our dreams and expectations are also huge. After coaching eight national teams and competing in several important tournaments, this is the biggest challenge of my entire career, and I am ready for it,” he said.
Queiroz indicated that he will rely on his over 40 years of coaching experience to make an impact with the team.
“I can promise and guarantee that I will bring 40 years of knowledge and experience. I am a coach, and my CV shows that, with the help of God, I have achieved symbolic recognition in international football. I believe that with the fans, especially the supporters, united with cohesion and ambition, we can succeed. I trust that together we can bring success in everything,” he added.
