Negative obstinacy can lead to imprisonment — Isabella

Negative obstinacy can lead to imprisonment — Isabella
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

Isabella of the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ) has warned that persistent negative behaviour and refusal to heed advice can lead to serious consequences, including imprisonment.

Speaking on Plan B FM’s Nyansapo Fie, hosted by Akosua Gyamfua, Isabella explained that obstinacy involves refusing to listen to advice or change one’s behaviour despite the negative consequences of one’s actions.

She noted that while obstinacy can have both positive and negative effects, its consequences depend on how it is expressed and the decisions an individual makes.

Using domestic violence as an example, Isabella said a person who continues to assault their wife or children despite repeated warnings to stop could face legal consequences for their actions.

She further explained that persistent negative behaviour could affect an individual’s livelihood, resulting in the loss of employment, business opportunities and partnerships, in addition to possible imprisonment.

Isabella therefore urged individuals to take advice seriously and be willing to reconsider harmful behaviour before it results in serious consequences.

She cautioned that refusing to change negative behaviour could jeopardise personal relationships, livelihoods and an individual’s freedom.
