The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has strongly condemned what it describes as widespread acts of inducement and vote buying during the party’s parliamentary primaries in the Ayawaso East Constituency.
In a statement issued by the party’s National Secretariat on Saturday, February 7, 2026, the NDC said its national executives had been alerted to allegations of bribery involving some aspirants who contested the primaries held earlier in the day.
The party described the reported acts as unacceptable and inconsistent with the core values and principles of the NDC, stressing that such conduct undermines the integrity of its internal democratic processes and the broader reset agenda it is pursuing.
“The party vehemently condemns these actions in no uncertain terms,” the statement said, noting that vote buying represents an affront to the ideals the party stands for.
The NDC announced that it has immediately instituted a full-scale investigation into the allegations and assured party members and the general public that swift disciplinary action will be taken against any candidate found culpable.
The statement further warned that going forward, the party would not hesitate to impose tougher sanctions to deter similar conduct, including the possible cancellation of elections where incidents of inducement are established.
