The National Coordinator of the National Recreation and Wellness Programme (NaRWP), Hon. Betty Nana Efua Krosbi Mensah, has formally resigned from her position to pursue her ambition of becoming the National Women’s Organiser of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC).
In a resignation letter dated May 29, 2026, and addressed to the Secretary to the President through the Minister for Sports and Recreation, Krosbi Mensah announced that her resignation would take effect on July 1, 2026.
According to her, the decision follows constitutional requirements within the NDC that require government appointees seeking elective party positions to step down from their current roles.
“This decision has not been an easy one,” she wrote, adding that after careful reflection, she had chosen to resign in order to pursue her political aspirations within the party.
Krosbi Mensah expressed gratitude to President John Dramani Mahama for the confidence reposed in her through her appointment and thanked the Minister for Sports and Recreation for the support and guidance she received during her tenure.
She described her time as National Coordinator as one of the greatest privileges of her public life, highlighting efforts to promote recreation, wellness, and preventive healthcare as key pillars of national development.
The outgoing coordinator said she was confident that the National Recreation and Wellness Programme would continue to grow under the leadership of the Ministry, stressing that its vision remains relevant and impactful.
“As I take this next step in my political journey, I remain fully committed to the ideals of service, empowerment, inclusion, and national development,” she stated.
Her resignation paves the way for her anticipated bid for the influential position of National Women’s Organiser ahead of the NDC’s internal elections.
